Background

For over a year, Region Stockholm and Region Uppsala have collaborated to strengthen our joint life science cluster. Last winter, we organized a series of workshops that brought together around 50 stakeholders from both the public and private life science sectors across Stockholm and Uppsala. The discussions focused on whether and how we should work together in a structured way to enhance our shared life science cluster. The response was overwhelmingly positive and enthusiastic, prompting us to take further action.

The workshops identified several valuable activities and goals that we aim to pursue in collaboration with other interested parties in the coming months and years. As a first step, we developed a Memorandum of Understanding, which was signed during a high-level meeting at Uppsala Castle on June 14. The signing was attended by leaders of regions, municipalities, universities, hospitals and companies.
