The region is governed by politicians whom you, as a resident entitled to vote, elect in the general elections every four years.
How Region Stockholm is governed
From 2022 to 2026, Region Stockholm is being governed by a minority coalition comprised of the Social Democrats, the Centre Party and the Green Party with the support of the Left Party. The seats in the Regional Council for this mandate period are as follows:

Political organisation
Regional Council
The Regional Council is the highest decision-making body in Region Stockholm. As a resident entitled to vote, you have the opportunity to vote for the politicians you think should sit on the Regional Council.
Regional Executive Committee
The Regional Executive Committee oversees and coordinates the day-to-day work of Region Stockholm's committees and companies. The Executive Committee prepares decisions to be considered by the Regional Council and ensures that adopted decisions are implemented.
Regional Advisory Committee
The Regional Advisory Committee is responsible for ensuring that various matters are prepared and tabled for decisions by the different political bodies. Committee members are nominated by their parties and elected by the Regional Council.
How your tax money is distributed
The budget is the primary governing policy document for all of Region Stockholm's operations. The elected politicians use the budget to decide how the funds are to be distributed and the tax rate residents are to pay.
